La Costa Glen’s new Pickleball court was unveiled with a ribbon-cutting and instructional clinic on Oct. 24. We learned how to “dink” the ball (slow volley) and why you can’t stand “in the kitchen” (frontcourt area).
The sport is fun and fast and has many unique terms and rules. Consider the following, though, before you rush out to play this fastest-growing American game:
1) The court is smaller and the net is lower compared to tennis, but the game is fast.
2) The game uses paddles and plastic balls and requires quick movements and turns (similar to table tennis).
3) The rules related to serving and scoring are more complicated and take practice to master.
To help everyone learn the game, we will have several more instructional clinics. Check with the Fitness department at x1443.
